John Hopfield<\/strong> y Geoffrey Hinton<\/strong> recibieron este martes el Premio Nobel de F\u00edsica<\/strong> por descubrimientos e inventos que formaron los pilares del aprendizaje autom\u00e1tico.<\/h3>\n

\u201cLos dos ganadores del Premio Nobel de F\u00edsica de este a\u00f1o han utilizado herramientas de la f\u00edsica para desarrollar m\u00e9todos que son la base del poderoso aprendizaje autom\u00e1tico actual\u201d, dijo el comit\u00e9 del Nobel en un comunicado de prensa.<\/h3>\n

La investigaci\u00f3n de Hopfield se lleva a cabo en la Universidad de Princeton y Hinton trabaja en la Universidad de Toronto.<\/h3>\n

Ellen Moons, miembro del comit\u00e9 del Nobel de la Real Academia Sueca de Ciencias, dijo que los dos ganadores \u201cutilizaron conceptos fundamentales de la f\u00edsica estad\u00edstica para dise\u00f1ar redes neuronales artificiales que funcionan como memorias asociativas y encuentran patrones en grandes conjuntos de datos\u201d.<\/h3>\n

Dijo que dichas redes se han utilizado para avanzar en la investigaci\u00f3n en f\u00edsica y \u201ctambi\u00e9n se han convertido en parte de nuestra vida diaria, por ejemplo, en el reconocimiento facial y la traducci\u00f3n de idiomas\u201d.<\/h3>\n

El premio de f\u00edsica est\u00e1 dotado con 11 millones de coronas suecas (1 mill\u00f3n de d\u00f3lares) procedentes de un legado dejado por el creador del galard\u00f3n, el inventor sueco Alfred Nobel. Se ha concedido 117 veces. Los galardonados est\u00e1n invitados a recibir sus premios en ceremonias que tendr\u00e1n lugar el 10 de diciembre, aniversario de la muerte de Nobel.<\/h3>\n

Los anuncios de los Nobel contin\u00faan con el premio de qu\u00edmica y f\u00edsica el mi\u00e9rcoles y el de literatura el jueves. El premio Nobel de la Paz se anunciar\u00e1 el viernes y el de econom\u00eda el 14 de octubre.<\/h3>\n
